Why Burgas?
As Bulgaria’s fourth-largest city, Burgas combined a thriving community, a welcoming local government, and a prime recreational space in Ezero Park. The course gave residents and visitors a new way to enjoy the outdoors while helping build a foundation for disc golf in the country.

About this Project
In August 2024, the Paul McBeth Foundation installed Bulgaria’s first permanent disc golf course in Ezero Park, located in the coastal city of Burgas. Known for its cultural heritage and Black Sea shoreline, Burgas offered a scenic and accessible setting for introducing disc golf to the region.

The nine-hole course, complete with tee pads, tee signs, and a practice area, was designed for players of all skill levels. Avery Jenkins oversaw the design to ensure a fun and challenging layout. This project built on PMF’s success in Eastern Europe, following the Montenegro course installation, and responded to growing interest from local players who had been running weekly leagues with temporary baskets.

With strong support from the city government, project driver Bozhidar (Bobby) Georgiev, and partners including DiscGolfPark and PDGA Europe, the Burgas course quickly became a hub for disc golf in Bulgaria and sparked further growth throughout the country.
