One Course Changed Everything in Serbia
For years, Stefan could only imagine playing disc golf in Belgrade.
He discovered the sport during the pandemic, stumbling upon YouTube videos and then a small group of 20–30 players in Serbia. But there was one massive obstacle: no courses existed in the entire country.
For nearly a decade, disc golf in Serbia meant lugging baskets around parks, setting up and tearing down for every single round. As Stefan put it, “It’s really a bummer when a beginner has to imagine playing disc golf instead of actually playing it. It’s a huge barrier to getting into the sport.”
Despite the challenges, Stefan and the local community kept playing wherever they could. They dreamed of a real course, but funding, permits, and land access proved challenging.
That’s when the Paul McBeth Foundation stepped in. For over two years, we stood alongside the Serbia disc golf community, patiently waiting for the right location and approval. Finally, when the perfect forest site was secured, PMF provided the baskets and resources needed to make history: Serbia’s first permanent disc golf course.
A Sanctuary in the Forest
Since the Belgrade Disc Golf Course opened just five months ago, everything has changed:
The community doubled from 30 to 60 players.
Over 1,000 rounds have already been played.
Someone is on the course every single day.
New players keep arriving, finding a welcoming community and a new sport to love.
Stefan describes the course as their sanctuary: “If you ask any of us at any point of the day ‘where would you like to be right now?’ the answer is always and unequivocally, ‘in our forest, playing disc golf.’”
What was once only a dream is now a thriving, sustainable community, because of one course.
Why This Matters
This is why we’re hosting Throw For More on September 20, 2025.
Every pledge you collect, every hole you play, creates opportunities for communities like Belgrade to have access to a disc golf course. One course can transform a city.
Together, we can make sure that players around the world don’t just imagine disc golf, they get to live it.
