Why Chicago?
Since its inception, part of the Paul McBeth Foundation’s dream has been to install courses not just internationally, but also in major U.S. cities with little pre-existing disc golf infrastructure. When the Chicago project presented itself as a starting point, it seemed like a perfect fit to work with a great team and provide opportunities in disc golf for a huge population with no access to the sport. We look forward to the great things to come from this project collaboration in Chicago.
About this Project:
Project 1.4 is our first project in the United States and takes us to the city of Chicago. We are committed to working with Hyde Park Disc Golf, Disc Golf Chicago, and Discmania to install a course in one city’s Southside parks.
Currently, the park has an 18-hole temporary course in Jackson Park, which was the site of the first-ever Chicago Disc Golf Exposition in 2021. The ultimate goal is to install an 18-hole permanent course that is free to the public. Our partners in the region have already spent countless hours making this project happen, and there is more work ahead. Hyde Park Disc Golf is working closely with city officials to gain the necessary permission to get the baskets installed permanently, and we look forward to working alongside them as they do.
