About this Project:

The second Paul McBeth Foundation project brought the first permanent 18-hole disc golf course to Guatemala, installed at the base of a volcano located in Santa Maria de Jesus.

The project is located on Monte Maria Golf Course, an underutilized golf course that now hosts both traditional ball golf as well as disc golf. We partnered with local resident Chris Gwinner, Discraft, and a local nonprofit to make this an 18-hole permanent course. This course is easily accessible to not only residents of Santa Maria de Jesus, but the city of Antigua. While the course does have a small fee to play to ensure long-term sustainability, children play for free, and the local community has the opportunity to enjoy clinics, leagues, and events at no cost.

Why Santa Maria de Jesus?

As an organization, strong partners on the ground are critical to the success of any project we take on. Chris and his team have proven that they are committed to not only getting a course installed, but to sharing their love of the game with the local community. The location also offers a community that will benefit greatly from the addition of this course, and our hope is that disc golf will begin to take root in Guatemala as a result.
